You Need To Be On Every Social Media Platforms Don’t You?
Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Quora, Gowalla, Digg….. they are all great for business, but should you be on all of them?
So you’ve got yourself a Facebook Fan Page and a Twitter account but what do you do with them? How do you make you actually make your social media activity benefit your business? One of the most important things to remember is you need to interact with people (your potential clients) and talk to them – you need to be social! It sounds simple doesn’t it? Yet you’d be surprised how many people use their social media accounts to simply broadcast and advertise their business or push special offers. The social community are not only savvy to this but will actively be deterred by it and you will soon find that your social media campaign will be having the exact opposite affect you had hoped for. Rather than gaining customers you will lose them and rather than heightening your brands reputation you will be damaging it. This may sound scary but it’s easily rectified by simply involving yourself in conversations. Talk to people who are discussing your industry, respond to those who are trying to communicate with you – the more engagement your activity drives the more likely these people will be to buy from you.
People buy from people and social media is a great opportunity for your brand to develop a personality and express itself to its targeted public. If you can manage to do this your clients will become your advocates, resulting in your voice achieving a much larger audience. What’s more it can be fun too!
Make sure you are social in social media – the clue is in the title!
