What is AMP and why does it matter?

AMP stands for Accelerated Mobile Pages. It is basically a collaborative project to enable web pages to be built and designed in such a way that they load rapidly on your mobile device. The project is open source which means there ae no secret formulas, all participants in the project openly contribute to the development of the technology. Why should this matter to you? Basically this means there is an appetite amongst consumers to access internet content through their mobile devices at a quicker speed and with an improved experience.

AMP and the bottom line!

The development of the AMP project sends a clear signal to all who already have a website. No doubt you already have understood the importance and value of your own website. This gives you a window in a vast internet landscape. However, now you need to think about not only a website that looks good and performs well on your desktop computer but also must do the same, if not better, on a mobile device such as an iPad or iPhone.  The bottom line is you need a mobile friendly site. Make sure you speak to your web designer to ensure your site is optimised for a good mobile experience.
